Transparency & Accountability in Mental Health Funding

Within the Mental Health field we have large amounts of funding being dedicated to help individuals. This funding should be transparent to how it is being used and exactly how its going to help the very people its set out to help. The agency accepting this funding should be accountable to how the funds are being used. Today we have large salary's, fringe benefits and incredible waste within these grants and funding obligations to these Behavioral Healthcare companies which is UNACCEPTABLE. These funding practices need to be exposed for what they are. If we continue to waste away these funds we will be back to where we were, no way to help and fund individuals who are extremely vulnerable.

Accountability in Funding

One of our Directors wrote this OP-ED piece to making comparisons to what happens to small boutique shops when a Walmart moves into a community. He argues there are vast similarities to what happens to small grassroots organizations when a behavioral healthcare agency moves in to a community. Especially what happens to the micro grants these grass roots community centers survive by.
